
Esther Bishop Machen, DDS, graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. After practicing as a dental hygienist for four years, she attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry where she graduated in June 2010. She practiced as a general dentist in Independence, Missouri prior to moving back home to Southeast Idaho in July of 2011.
While in dental school, Dr. Machen received a Presidential Citation from the Missouri Dental Association for leading the efforts to change legislation for the protection of the dental consumer in Missouri. She was awarded the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators Award and the Pierre Fauchard Academy Scholarship in 2009. In 2010, she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. After being invited into the Honors Program in Pediatric Dentistry, she was able to complete advanced studies in the area of pediatric dentistry. Upon graduation, Dr. Machen received the Certificate of Merit from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for the class of 2010.
Rather than just treating symptoms, Dr. Machen believes in a comprehensive approach to dental health. She looks forward to creating long term relationships with her patients.
Kim has been in the dental field for over 14 years as a Dental Assistant and Office Manager. She has experience in filing insurance claims, managing patient accounts, scheduling and facilitating financial concerns and payment plans for patients. Kim is also an expanded function dental assistant and at times can be found helping Dr. Machen with your dental treatment. Kim is married to her wonderful husband Brandon Houk and has 3 awesome children that make her life crazy fun. Kim loves to spend time with her family and bargain shopping in her free time.
Shelly is originally form Canada, but has been in Idaho Falls for over 20 yrs. She is a graduate form BYU-I and also attended ISU. Her and her husband, Kurt have two beautiful children. Their oldest Kegan, is serving a LDS mission in the Philippines and Karter is a sophomore at Skyline High School. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially watching Karter play football. She loves meeting new people and making them feel comfortable. Shelly is looking forward to being a part of Machen Family Dentistry and making people smile.
Lindsey is a registered dental hygienist who graduated with a bachelor degree from the Utah College of Dental Hygiene. Prior to becoming a hygienist she worked as an oral surgeon assistant and assisted in many different maxillofacial surgeries. Lindsey loves working in the field of dentistry and strives to make her patients feel comfortable in her chair. She enjoys helping people and loves working in the field of dentistry educating people on their oral health. She also enjoys talking her patients and getting to know them on a personal level. Lindsey enjoys running and outdoor activities. She loves spending time with family and friends, and is excited to one day start her own family. Lindsey hopes to help satisfy the dental needs for you and your family. She is excited to be part of Machen Family Dentistry and help the office grow!
Kayla Ellsworth, RDH graduated from Utah College of Dental Hygiene December 2011 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. She originally roots from a potato farm in Lewisville, Idaho. Kayla is excited about dentistry and helping her patients feel satisfied with their Oral Care. Her favorite aspect of dentistry is the ability to teach her patients the importance of Oral Health Care. She also loves getting to know her patients on an individual basis. In her free time you can find Kayla doing just about anything outside, eating ice cream, shopping, or creating a Pinterest craft. Kayla is thrilled about teaming with Machen Family Dentistry and helping produce positive outcomes!
